NaCoSi – Sustainability controlling for urban water systems – risk profiles and control instruments

If the sustainability of urban water systems is a measure of performance, then this aspect needs to be incorporated in the controlling of services rendered and in management. A consideration of the future involves insecurity and hence risks. The collaborative project NaCoSi identifies the potentials for risks and dangers for a sustainable urban water management system.

The focus of the transdisciplinary research project is on the respective water supply and wastewater disposal utilities with their relevant municipal and/or regional conditions and problems. A management instrument for sustainability controlling will be developed which conceives sustainable urban water management as a corridor of possible developments which is framed by defined categories of sustainability risks.
